I want to do the exact opposite of this request: https://community.miro.com/wish-list-32/mind-map-convert-nodes-to-sticky-notes-cards-1832 I love brainstorming with Notes/Comments. I can create Notes in bulk (or not) and not have to make a decision where they live. I get to rearrange once I get them on the board. Then I might want to create a hierarchy of those notes, such as building a Work Breakdown Structure, etc. It would be helpful to drag a note onto the end of a node of a mindmap (to expand the map). Ideally there would be some way to keep the comment attached.
How can I insert an intermediate step in a mindmap? I already have a wide map with various branches now I like to subdivide and insert a subtopic. The image shows exemplary my problem. One annoying approach would be to create a new branch and write each step again… I guess you have some smarter solution? I appreciate your comments and support.
In mind mapping template, I created a flow and when i move one object, the other moves automatically. Cannot find a way to prevent it.
Hi all! I really like the freedom of mind mapping in Miro. The fact that I can nearly through any file type on my board and connect everything together the way I want it is great for creative research. However, sometime I need some structured mind maps too. Hence, I use the Miro mind mapping tool. And there it is too basic. There isn’t even the option to make organigram style mind maps? What about adding icons to the subject boxes? Maybe I missed the purpose of this tool and I am open to learn more on how I could do replicate mind maps the way I would build them in XMind or MindManager. Thanks! Tom
Hi i have used other mindmap apps but miro is more than a mindmap app so I am gonna use miro, but i have so many mindmaps in other platforms. My question is; is there Is there any way to uploading other mindmap formats to miro
Mind Map how can you assign a task/ due date to a team member?
Cardsy Easily generate cards in bulk from selected widgets on your Miro boards. We all love Miro, and I wanted to repay Miro somehow for providing such an amazing product. So I made a plugin which is gonna be lot of use to me. Do check it out maybe it might save some of your time as well. I would appreciate any kind feedback.😊 Use case You have filled your board with your precious ideas in various widgets like Text, Sticky, or Shapes. Now, you want to take advantages of Miro cards properties like assigning a date (could be a deadline) assigning a team member writing detailed description use them in your Kanban framework. Steps to use:- Select some widgets from your board Click on the plugin icon in bottom bar of the board. Done! All the cards are created with their title from the selected widget’s content. You can freely use this quick plugin I made by adding to your Miro board. Add Cardsy to your board
Hi everyone, I was wondering if there was a way that i am able to have the nodes extending from all 4 sides of the centre not just two? Thank you!
Hi. I have a lot of problems with a big mind map – about 250 presentation frames and more than 1000 different objects. It’s so hard to change/add something and not to break other frames. Each, even relatively small movement of object will also change position of other objects – and in most of the cases also move it away from their frames. I tried to lock those objects, but it did not help. Even blocked object will be moved. BTW. The locking mechanism doesn’t work when I select more than one object. I also tried just reduce the closeness of my objects – it helped but not fully. Is it possible to somehow solve my problems? How do you work with such maps?
Hi friends, Currently I am using EdrawMind from Wondershare for mind mapping. What is the way around to use those files on miro? Those are getting uploaded as images and not mind map files. Appreciate your help! Regards, V

Hi all, My spacing is way too wide on my mind map. When I try to manually resize, it auto-corrects itself to where it was before. I am not sure how to make the spacing smaller. Any ideas? TIA The desired spacing option What I have now
Hi all, I’m a knowledge worker. While looking for a good tool to build my Personal Knowledge System (aka Second Brain), someone suggested Miro. I’ve searched a lot, but I wasn’t able to find any use cases related to Academic Research or similar jobs. I see Miro is mainly used for UX Design, meetings and similar. I wonder if and how I could use Miro for complex knowledge, often related to projects. I ask because I’m a visual guy, I really love mind maps, and I see being text only only takes so far when it’s time to learn.
Hi all, I really like Miro, and I think it would be the right App for me, but I’m concerned about the future. When I go to a platform I always check for what I call “exit plan”: what if I exited tue platform in tue future? Now, Miro has few exporting options that make us locked in. For example, the mind maps have no outline or OPML options. That is, mind map is very basic about the options. How do you manage it?
Hi I’m a long term mindmapper. Thrilled to see Mindmapping in Miro and want to use it. Has anyone found a way to use it to create Business Book Outlines or Structures? This is one I created in MindManager - its great as a stand alone but has very limited team and sharing functionality. Miro is much better at that. But so far I can only find ‘tree’ or left to right branching map formats. Anyone managed to create a map like this top down one in Miro? Thank you. Mindmanager top down book structure
Love using Miro,I know we can export to excel, however is there a way to convert a mind map to an outline editable text view? Like how transno can convert list view into a mind map and vice versa.
This is probably the only template I use other tools for still, every time I think I would like to use Miro for all my workshopping, the mindmap gets in the way. The main areas where I feel restricted are: Ability to change shapes & their styles Ability to add labels on the lines Ability to position things the way I would like, for example, the start of the mind map is never centered, always towards the top which looks completely off Future: Mindmap clusters with labels - kind of doable now but it does not move along with the mindmap Please improve this much needed feature!
Hi this is a pre sales question as I’m loving mind map but there is one issue that is blocking me us using it for our company, how is it possible to move a node in mind map on iOS (or any tablet)? All of the online resources completely skip the fact there is no keyboard to hold down the control key when using an iPad etc, so the documented method of being able to move items around in a mind map appears to be impossible on a tablet? This seems really odd as it would be simple to add a touchscreen button or option to enable the same functionailty as if a keyboard CTRL key was held as you drag, but after a great deal of time searching and trying to find a way it appears to be impossible? Is this the case? If so it breaks a crucial feature of mind map and means we can’t adopt it
Hey Community, I am coming from Xmind and switched to Miro for its collaboration geature. One thing I miss is the ability to export a mindmap with the tabulation that would illustrate the different relationships. I only experienced the CSV which is quite tedious as it puts everything on the same line. Is there a way to achieve that, or maybe a place somewhere in the backlog ;-)
I am a paid user, but cannot lock a mind map. I can lock individual items in the mind map but not able to lock the entire map. The lock option appears for me, but nothing happens when I click on the padlock icon. Thanks.

Miro AI offers other methods for creating a mind map, including Expand with questions, Expand with ideas, and Expand with topics. To learn more about Miro AI, see the section "Mind Maps with AI" in Overview of Create and Edit with AI. Working with mind maps You can add as many nodes to your mind map as you like. You can move the nodes around to suit your needs, or use auto layout for a clean look. You can also reassign child nodes to other parent nodes, or delete nodes altogether. Moving, resizing, adding, deleting nodes As you rearrange nodes in your mind map, all child nodes will automatically align. This is because auto layout is turned on by default. To turn auto layout on or off, click the parent node, and in the context menu toggle auto layout. Using auto layout to align changes to nodes When auto layout is turned off, you can still align all your child nodes. After you’ve finished organizing your mind map, click the parent node, then click the three dots (...) in the context menu and select Layout nodes. To reassign a child node to another parent node, simply drag the node. ✏️ Hold down Ctrl (for Windows)/Cmd (for Mac)if you'd like to move the node instead of reassigning it. Reassigning a node Use nodes linking to show dependencies between ideas in your mind map when visualizing complex concepts. Nodes linking You can also change your mind map's size by selecting it and dragging the white dot. Changing mind map's size To add text to a node, double-click it. ✏️ Use Shift + Return to break lines inside a node. To create a bullet-list in a node, type - and press the spacebar. To create a numbered list, type 1. at the beginning of a line.To create a bullet list starting from the second (or third/fourth/etc.) line, create a new line with Cmd + Enter (for Mac) or Ctrl + Enter (for Windows). Inserting additional text into a node To delete a node, press Delete or click three dots on the context menu and choose Delete. The node will be deleted along with all the child nodes. Deleting a node ⚠️ Mind map nodes can't be locked and grouped. Formatting mind map elements You can choose the style for your mind map (the nodes can either use curved or straight lines) and change the orientation. And if you want your mind map to look colorful and bright, use Randomize tool. Style of your mind map Since the main component of every mind map is text, you can apply different text styling options in its shortened version. Please note that to preserve the visual consistency of the mind map, changing the text size in the parent node will affect the whole mind map. Changing the font size of the mind map You can change individual nodes by using different options on the context menu: change the style and color, highlight text, and add an URL. Currently, it is not possible to change the font. Changing a node Changing node type There are four visual styles of node: None - no shape is applied Pill - an oval pill-shape Rounded rectangle - a rectangular shape with rounded corners Rectangle - rectangular shape To add a node type: Select the node you want to affect Click the node type button in the toolbar Choose the style of node type you want The style will be applied and the node will be filled with the same color as the branch You can also change the color of the node and its fill opacity for greater visual impact:Changing a node's type and color options Expanding and collapsing mind maps Build mind maps of any size without getting lost in the details. You can import Mural content to Miro in a PDF. This article provides guidance for best results, explains how to import Mural content in a PDF, and describes the results you can expect for some Mural elements imported to Miro in a PDF.Available on: Business, Education, Enterprise, and StarterWho can do it: Users with edit accessThe PDF import method is effective for functional content that copy-paste and API imports do not support. The PDF importer analyses shapes and coordinates in the Mural PDF and attempts to reconstruct the original Mural layout. For example, intersecting lines may indicate a table. Some objects appear differently in Miro, where precise styling may require manual adjustments or recreation. In general, the simpler the content the more accurate the import.Mural import guidelinesThe PDF import method is most effective with simple content that does not have a lot of styling. The PDF importer primarily matches shapes and lines.✏️ To import to Miro, Mural content must be under a Full or Free Restricted license.Clear spacing between elements enables the importer to parse content most accurately. A Mural board with dozens of elements crowded together may have mixed results. For highest fidelity, ensure that your Mural content does not contain the following attributes: Custom fonts Styling that transforms shapes like rounded corners and bent arrows Overlapping shapes and lines Rotated elements 💡 If you need to preserve styling or exact coordinates, the only reliable method is to import the content as a static image. How to import Mural boards to Miro as PDFsThe following procedure explains how to import Mural content to Miro as PDF documents. Prerequisites Ensure that you complete the following prerequisites: You have edit access to the target board in Mural, and the destination board in Miro. Ensure that you download your Mural files as PDF. More information: See (external) Export and download your mural's content. Procedure Follow these steps: On the Miro dashboard, in the upper-right select + Create new. Select Import, then select Import from Mural. The Import boards from Mural modal opens.
