Formulas for Miro

Hello everyone! I’m working on a new app for Miro called Formulas and I’d love to get feedback from the community here. The Formulas app brings your Miro board to life by enabling board items to dynamically change their values and colors based on the other items in your board. Check out the video below for the full pitch, but here are some examples of what the plugin can do: Run calculations like Sum or Average against the items in your board Create a sticky that changes its background color to red automatically if it has a negative number Make a text block that combines the text of all items inside of a frame. Keep the value of a sticky in sync with another sticky or text block on the board. Count the number of dots in frames as a custom voting exercise I’m nearly happy with the basic functionality of the app currently, but I don’t have a clear idea of real-world use cases, so please tell me what you think. Miro Desktop App vs. Web Browser

Okay community, vote and settle this debate! Which one do you prefer and why? Desktop/Mobile App vs. Web Browser I prefer the desktop app because I like to keep my browser tabs minimal and organized. I cannot have too many open at one time! I think of Miro as a program so I like to use it like an application and not a website. I’ll use the mobile app from time-to-time to make quick notes or edits. It’s a good tool to have even though I don’t use it that often.

using pre-recorded video for Talktrack

I’ve been working out how to use pre-recorded videos for Talktrack, so that I can get the delivery right, apply edits, then navigate the board. Set up an OBS Virtual Camera and add your pre-recorded video as a Media Source. Ensure that the audio from the media source is being sent to the virtual camera with the Monitor and Output setting. Route your audio to a virtual sound source. If you’re on a Mac I’ve found Blackhole to be the best way to do this, and the Multi Output Device preset is ideal as it will enable you to hear the audio whilst navigating the board as part of the Talktrack recording. Select your virtual webcam and virtual sound source as part of the Talktrack recording. 🎥… Profit! Of course, this will be redundant if it becomes possible to upload videos to Talktrack, but until then...

Tips for organizing large Miro boards effectively?

Hi everyone, I’m working on a project where my team and I are using Miro to map out a really complex workflow. The board has gotten quite large, and it’s starting to feel a bit overwhelming to navigate and keep things organized. Does anyone have any tips or best practices for: Structuring large boards? Zoom / Size best practices?

I’m brand new to Miro and working on creating a large board for facilitating an all day workshop for a smallish group. I initially started by copying over some templates, but as I got comfortable I just started creating my own thing. I’ve discovered that I’m having to use text sizes of 900 for example, and the zoom is set to just a few %. Is there any problem with this? Should I be targeting using “normal” text sizes and doing everything at 100%, or is it totally irrelevant as long as I keep things in proportion to one another? I’m worried that I’m going to get even more hours into setting this up and suddenly realize that actually having apparently huge everything actually screws me up somehow. Any thoughts much appreciated! Thank you,

Do you use Miro for product planning?

We all know how challenging product planning sessions can get—trying to align on priorities, managing feature requests, and ensuring everything stays connected to the overall development process can feel like herding cats, especially when dealing with teams spread across different locations worldwide. At our company, we faced this challenge too. Initially, we used Miro solely for brainstorming sessions. However, we decided to experiment further and began utilizing it for ideation and product planning as well. We quickly discovered that transferring information from our GitHub issues to Miro was a hassle because it required us to copy and paste chunks of information. #MiroAI AI Engine to read an image of a diagram and create a Miro Board

#MiroAI I frequently get diagrams in images (jpg, png, gif, etc.). It would be awesome to have an AI engine that could do an “OCR” type scan, but convert everything in the image of the diagram into an editable Miro Board with Miro Components (not just putting the image into a Board, but converting the image into Miro components in a new Board). This would be a life changer!!!

New app: Mapsy – Create a mind map node from a Card, Shape, Sticky Note, or Text

I have been using the Miro Assist Expand with ideas action on mind map nodes and am loving it. However, what has frustrated me is, when I have another objects type, e.g., a sticky note from a brainstorming activity and I want to turn it into a mind map, I have to copy the text, create a mind map, and paste the text into the mind map – that is just too many steps. Given there was no “switch type” action to convert objects into mind maps, but there is CRUD (create, read, update, delete) mind map in the Miro SDK in an experimental release, I had the idea to take @Yash's open-source Cardsy app (that makes cards from other objects) and use it to make a one-click solution to create mind map nodes from other objects. List of shape options with smaller radius corners

I recently noticed a colleague using a shape that had smaller radius corners than the basic rounded rectangle shape, and that the corner size remained the same as the shape was resized. Upon further investigation, I found they were using the UML → Activity diagramming shape. And after some more digging, I saw that the UML → Interface object had even smaller radius corners. Here is a board I put together with the different shapes I found (feel free to copy the board by clicking on the board title and using the Duplicate action): While these other shape objects solve my problem of the basic rounded rectangle shape’s corners being way too big (as noted in this Wish List idea post) when I need to make the rectangle very big, the only downside I am seeing is that the font size does not scale with the shape:
