I would like to import data from other Mind map tools.

Same as other Mind Map tool like MindMeister, MindManager, XMind and Freemind, I would like Miro to allow import their format.

Basically, I use another mindmap tools because of rich UI. And my company only allow us to use Miro. Then, I would like to export mindmap data from mindmeister and import it by Miro.

The best way is to improve UX in Miro. But I think it is not that easy.

Then, I would like to accept the format.

Was it helpful?

@Mori : This wish is two years old and miro is not able to answer…

I left miro because of their customer friendly support.

Best regards

@mlanders - I thought you left Miro because they are not GDPR compliant?

And if you left, why do you continue to hang around this community of users for a tool which you no longer use?

@Robert Johnson Yes, right I left because of GDPR... BUT in both cases there was a huge and long intense communicational exchange with miro but...

miro did not care... the rest is history

I for one appreciate mlanders@ clearly pointing out the breadcrumbs that allow us users to understand that Miro indeed doesn't explain why they don't support import of mindmaps (is it oversight? intentional? ignored?).  I think community moderators should welcome those contributions or help users find ways to get strategic answers from the product team.

Currently, Miro does not have a built-in feature to directly import mind map files from other formats like MindMeister, MindManager, XMind, or Freemind. However, there are workarounds available. You can export your mind map from your current tool as an image and import it into Miro, though it won't retain the interactivity. Alternatively, if your current tool supports text-based exports, you can copy and paste the text content into Miro and manually structure it. Regards

I am new to Miro and I doubt I want to use this.

Making a Mindmap: awful, time-consuming, years behind everything… even freeware tools like Freeplane or even the outdated Freemind were easier to use 15 years ago.

Importing a Mindmap: not possible unless you want to recreate everything except typing the words (which is the smallest task).

So, is nothing possible here?

Hi @cxx! Sorry to hear your experience with mind maps hasn’t been great. Check out this Help Center article on one of the latest updates we’ve made to this feature with MIro’s newest AI partner, “Miro Assist. I hope this helps!  https://help.miro.com/hc/en-us/articles/10339593336210
