When creating new issues in our Jira instance, we have default assignee as Automatic, or Unassigned. That promotes the idea that anyone can create an issue in Jira. We don’t typically assign anything until teams discuss, and understand the ask. When creating issues with Jira Cards, the assignee is defaulted to whomever is creating the issue unless you search for someone else. Is there a way to default this to unassigned?

I’m afraid, it is currently not possible to change the default to unassigned when creating an issue right from your board - I’m truly sorry about that!😞
However, it seems like a great feature so I suggest you add your idea to our Wish List. I could find a few Jira-related feature requests there like this one and this one but they don’t match your request entirely. Please feel free to add your own and also to upvote the other requests if you like them and hopefully these requests will soon be added!😀
