Is there a way to back to a previous point in time in the activity log? When I closed my last session a large branch of the mind map I made was deleted, I see where it happened in the activity log, but is there a way to get back to the point where that happened?

Unfortunately not. At this point, unless you had made a manual backup of the board (e.g. to a local RTB file) before the deletion happened, your only option might be to open a Miro support ticket to see if they could do a restore.
