Undo undoes several actions instead of just the last action

When my students and I press the undo button or CRTL + Z, it undoes several actions instead of just the last action of the same tool.

If we use the pen tool and create several illustrations/actions, followed it by a shape tool like creating a rectangle, followed by another pen tool with several illustrations/actions. The first undo will delete ALL the actions of the last use of the pen tool. The next undo will delete the shape, the third undo will delete ALL the actions of the first pen tool use.

It did not use to do this when we started using Miro at the beginning of the year. We noticed that this started happening around the beginning of January 2025.

Please help and thank you.

Hi @Vincent Rieuf,

Thanks for testing those steps,! It’s helpful to know that the issue resolves on a fresh board. Since a Support ticket is already in progress, they’ll be in the best position to investigate further. I recommend following up with them if you notice any new patterns. Appreciate your patience!

Hi @Mr. Siong  and @U.A.Kopitina

Thanks for bringing this up! I tried replicating the issue on my end but couldn't reproduce it—undo worked as expected. However, if this is happening consistently for you, here are a few things you can try:

  • Check if the issue persists in a different browser or the Miro app – This can help determine if it’s a browser-specific behavior.
  • Test with a fresh board – Sometimes board history or data accumulation can affect performance.
  • Clear cache & cookies – If you’re using a browser, this might help reset any stored settings affecting undo behavior.

If the problem persists, I recommend submitting a report to Miro Support, as they can check if this is an intentional change or a bug.

Hope this helps, and let me know if you notice any patterns!

@Eca
I’ve tested:

  • Clear cache & cookies – Does not solve the pb
  • Check if the issue persists in a different browser or the Miro app - Does not solve the pb on Microsoft Edge Version 134.0.3124.72 (Official build) (64-bit) but it’s a chromium too if I’m not mistaken
  • Test with a fresh board – Fixes the problem

Thank you Vincent. I’ve been busy so I only got to test it this morning.

  1. I use Chrome and advance delete browsing data with everything checked didn’t do anything.
  2. Unfortunately, my school district only allows for Google Chrome. I use it on my teacher Windows PC and my students use it on Chromebooks. The issue persist.
  3. I also tried the board on the Miro app but the issue persisted.
  4. Starting a fresh new board seems to do the trick (but not solve the problem).

I have hours and hours of customization on my “class” board that I’d hate to start from scratch again. Just wondering. Miro has a “history”. Is there a way to clear the history, the Miro cache to see if that could resolve the issue?

A Special Thanks: I want to say that my experience and my students’ experiences with Miro are beyond grand. My 4th grade students are literally collaborating using Miro after school, on weekends, and holidays because they are so excited to be able to learn together. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Miro has also taken my teaching strategies to heights that even I couldn’t imagine Miro could take me. Thank you.

Hi @Mr. Siong,

Thank you for taking the time to test this further and for sharing your detailed findings. I understand how frustrating it must be to experience this issue, especially when your class board has so much customization and valuable work.

Currently, Miro doesn’t offer a way to manually clear board history or cache within the app, but I know how important it is to find a workaround that doesn’t require starting over. Since starting a fresh board resolves the issue, it’s possible that something within the board’s history or data is affecting the undo behavior. I’d recommend reaching out to Miro Support to see if they can provide any insights or potential solutions specific to your board.

Also, I just want to take a moment to say how inspiring it is to hear about the impact Miro is having on your students! The fact that they’re collaborating outside of school hours out of pure excitement is incredible. Thank you for sharing that—it truly means a lot!

I’ll keep an eye out for any updates on this issue and will share anything new I learn. In the meantime, please don’t hesitate to reach out if there’s anything else I can do to help!
