Grid instead of a new table - grid is better in some ways

Hi, is it possible to put Excel into a table from now on? I would like it to be in Grid, mainly because of the coloring.

Hello,
M.

Was it helpful?

Hi Eca,
I am writing the following with an absolutely positive attitude:
I have been thinking a lot about how to convey exactly what I am aiming for, what a significant loss of functionality I see if the option to insert into the Grid is eliminated.
I see the new table as very good and progressive, but I think inserting into the Grid has a completely different function. The new table also has a different function and the Grid also has a different function.
The Grid is also a table in some way, but it is not Excel, and it is not intended for that either.
For example, a Chess board is also a table in some way, but its function is also different.
Grid :
- transparent for a start and that's exactly what it is
- colorable cells, colorable words within them, fonts (I mean a textual context because grouping is very, very important)
- graphic elements can be easily inserted and they stay there
- the customizability of cells and columns is very flexible
- it may seem simple and outdated, but from another perspective it actually shows development - less is more

For example, I don't often use Excel-like tables for what they were primarily intended for when they were developed, and when I insert them into Grid, I don't use Grid as if I needed an Excel-like table, but as I wrote above, I use Grid for a completely different reason.
A colored, grouped (with graphic elements) truth table is also a table, but not an Excel-like table.
I keep longer texts, dialogue elements and group contexts from Excel or other spreadsheet sources and use them later modified in Grid.
To mention another everyday example that many people may experience:
A smart phone is great, but it is not the best choice in every situation, it is actually a disadvantage.
Or: The "ribbon" at the top of Excel is trendy, but many people find it a pain to use - it is not for nothing that not all spreadsheets prefer the traditional layout.

I hope that this way I can better convey the aspects that make me wonder about the disappearance of Grid insertion.

Regards,
Miklos :)
