Hello everyone,

I’m an API developer currently building an app for my clients and have a few questions about Miro.

1. App Installation Across Teams: When I share the installation link for my app with a client, they are required to select which team the app will be installed in.
   Is there any way to modify this process so the app can be installed globally across all teams in the  client’s organization?

2. Collaborating with Clients on Different Plans: My company is on the Enterprise plan, and I understand that collaboration is possible with clients who are also on the Enterprise plan.
   Are there any limitations or blockers I should be aware of if I want to collaborate with clients using Free or Business plans?

3. Administrative Tools: Apart from the Miro App Workflow, does Miro provide any additional administrative tools that can be used to manage apps or permissions more efficiently?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @vkoko

1. Organization-level app management is available on the Enterprise Plan for Company Admins. This allows Company Admins to add apps for all teams within the organization. To do this, they can navigate to Company settings > Apps and add the app for all teams. See help center article for more info.

2. In terms of app development, when using enterprise scopes, only teams which are on an enterprise plan will be able to install your app. There are other feature limitations on free plans vs business vs enterprise. You can learn more about differences on this help article.

3. Company admins can manage apps at both org and team levels. (See help article from 1.) Company admins can also manage team specific settings, such as user permissions and team privacy. We also offer security and compliance tools like an eDiscovery integration, which helps in litigation-related legal obligations, and a connector to Netskope, a leader in the Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB) space, to prevent data leakage. We also have audit logs / SCIM APIs.

Let me know if you have further questions.

Hello @Horea Porutiu

Thanks for you detailed answer.

  1. I reviewed the link you shared and saw that to add the app to the entire organization, it must be added through the settings (and that is okay). Does the app need to be published in MIRO’s marketplace for this, or can I add it while it's still in "draft" status?
  1. As I understand it, there is not a separate administrative tool in MIRO. We can only use what's available through the account settings in our MIRO account, correct?

Best rregards,

Vas

Hi @vkoko

Does the app need to be published in MIRO’s marketplace for this, or can I add it while it's still in "draft" status?

You can still add it in draft status. I’ve just tried this myself with a test app, and it worked just fine. You should be able to add “private” apps to all teams from the Org settings → Apps → Add apps page as shown below.

Yes, you are correct. Miro does not have a separate administrative tool from what I know. All administrative functions and settings are managed through the account settings available within your Miro account from what I understand. Please take this answer with a grain of salt though since I am specialised in the dev platform and our developer capabilities.

@Horea Porutiu

Great! Thanks!

@Horea Porutiu Sorry, I forgot to ask,

In the enterprise plan, does the authorization flow process differ from the free plan, or does it remain the same across all account types and plans?

@vkoko
Could you please be a bit more specific? Do you mean within app install flow?

@Horea Porutiu

Yes, within app install flow
