My screen recorder is bugging out, so I’ve attached an example of an object that refuses to adhere to the axis alignment that one expects from holding shift and moving it.
Maybe try recreating it with similar variables. It’s a ellipse object with a no colour border & bg, It is in the foreground.
I’ve just tested this as well, and the shift + move function seems to be working as expected on my end too. I agree with Robert that this might be an isolated issue.
A couple of things to consider: Are you using a wired mouse or a trackpad when dragging/moving objects while holding the Shift key? Sometimes, the input method can influence how this behaves. If possible, could you share a video or more details of the issue you're seeing? That would help us pinpoint the problem more accurately.

Further, any object that inherits this anomaly does not work (i.e. not subject to the hold shift + move) whether I hold shift first, then click to move, or click to move while holding shift. In other words, whenever an object decides to act like this, I cannot ever get that object behave as expected.
It’s like, once it happens, it cannot unhappen.
I’ve observed this with basic shapes - including text and connections. And groups of objects that contain one or more affected objects.

FYI Miro has always behaved liked this for me, since I started using it two years ago. I didn’t raise it until now because it was quite tedious to reproduce.
