Card Detail Text Disappearing

Has anyone else run into an issue where the text from a card’s details panel will disappear after writing in it for a while? It happens so frequently that I now copy the text to the clipboard multiple times (in an attempt to save my work) as I’m writing in a card just to make sure that when it happens, I won’t lose what I had written.

It just happened to me again and I took note that I had typed a bunch of text into the card details panel, then walked away from my laptop for a few min and when I came back it was in standby mode. When I woke the computer up, Miro was still open, but the card details panel was missing all of the new text I had written.

 

This happens regardless of if I am starting a card from scratch (the text I’d written will simply disappear) or if I’m updating a card that already had text in it (if a card already has text and I delete/rewrite half of it and then am inactive in Miro for a bit while it’s open, I will sometimes come back and find that the new text is gone and it’s reverted to the old text).

 

I’m using the app on OSX. Any insight would be appreciated!

To help pinpoint what’s happening, could you confirm a few details?

  1. Please ensure it's the latest version, as updates may address issues like this.
  2. Disconnection can sometimes lead to data loss if the board hasn’t fully synced. A strong, stable connection is helpful in ensuring content is saved in real time.
  3. Miro typically auto-saves, but occasionally, the standby mode can disrupt this. Have you noticed any other patterns, like timing or specific actions, when the text loss occurs?

In the meantime, you might try refreshing the board after each session to make sure changes are fully captured.

Hi. I recorded a video of it happening reliably. I’d assumed the app was up to date because on my windows machine it seems to constantly download auto-updates. In order to force and update on OSX, I downloaded the app again and re-installed it and now everything seems to work (no connection interruptions when editing cards that lead to lost data). Is there a reason that my OSX Miro desktop app doesn’t auto-update in the background like my windows desktop version does? How often do I need to manually install updates to stay current?

Thanks so much for the follow-up, and I’m glad reinstalling the app has resolved the issue! I appreciate you recording a video as well—it’s great to know you were able to identify that re-installing helped with connection stability and data retention.

 

To address your question about updates on OSX: Unlike on Windows, the macOS version of the Miro app doesn’t always auto-update in the background, so manual updates may sometimes be needed. Generally, it’s a good idea to check for updates periodically (or whenever you notice performance issues), especially since Miro releases new updates fairly frequently to improve functionality and address any known bugs.

I still experience the same issue with card text dissapearing quite often. It is very annoying and time costly.

But.. I work in the chrome browser.

Can you please investigate. Otherwise I have to leave Miro… what’s a bad option for me as well.
