Lock by object type

Locking and unlocking items when preparing a Board can take a painful amount of time. It’s also prone to error, where you can easily miss locking an item and it messes with running a meeting.

How about Miro has a feature where you can lock or unlock by shape? You could have checkboxes for the various shapes on the board. For instance, you could lock everything except sticky notes.

Was it helpful?

@Greg Selvin - This sounds like a feature request, so I will move the post to the Wish List category.

For future ideas, please select Wish List idea:

By the way, I updated the title from “Lock by Shape” to “Lock by object type”.

After giving this some more thought, you should be able to accomplish this already by first filtering by object type, e.g.:

Select and filter objects

Filters are extremely helpful if you need to bulk change a particular type of object in a group: select several items, click Filter on the context menu, and choose an object type. Learn more about object selection in this article.

@Robert Johnson I think filtering by object can be helpful. As far as I can see, you can filter by a single object type at a time. If you could filter based on checkboxes, so you can select multiple types at once, then I can see this method satisfying my request. As it stands now, I don’t think the current filtering method is efficient enough to allow quick locking and unlocking various elements on the board. Still, it’s a great tip, so thanks!

@Robert Johnson I tested this out. A problem is that once everything is locked on a Board, I cannot then select all the objects in order to filter by sticky and just unlock those. I think your suggestion won’t work at all unless I can select locked items.
