When creating a large/complex flow or process diagram I always wish to label each step (shape) in the process with a number, so 1, 2, 3,… etc. The way I have to do this write now is insert a text element, set the font and style, etc. and then duplicate it for as many steps in the diagram and then set all the numbering by editing each text element. Doesn’t seem like much except when my flow/process diagram has 50-100 steps.

It would be great to have a tool/widget, that when activated, you can click on the board and it keeps inserting a number that keeps incrementing. Also, that number label should be editable so that I could change the number, change the style, set a new start from value, etc.

SnagIt has this feature and it’s extremely useful for labeling an image.

Apparently uploading a GIF didn’t work. Here’s the example of what I mean.

I guess this is the same feature as “Annotate with Counter”
