Bulk-edit Jira issues

It would be great if it was possible to bulk edit multiple Jira tickets from Miro.

The use case that I have in mind is using Miro board for backlog grooming and wanting to assign or edit a value of multiple tickets at the end of the grooming session.

Was it helpful?

@Jeong -

Not sure why you wouldn’t just use Jira’s native backlog view for refinement purposes. Plus, the bulk edit capability of Jira (from the search screen) is quite powerful. What do you see as the benefit of using Miro for this purpose vs. just using Jira shared with team members over a Zoom/Teams/Skype session?

imagine you have messy sorted a backlog into groups in miro - it’s great for that - you now need to get those groups represented in jira (before you can use the powerful bulk editing tools there) so even being able to bulk label tickets would be a plus since then you can use the label to find all those tickets in jira, right now you can’t even download all the jira ID’s using csv export from Miro

I really wish this was a thing. It sounds amazing to use Miro to import a large batch of Jira issues.

Each team member has a "zone". When we're done I should be able to export the board back to Jira and depending on which "zone" each Jira ticket is placed, it would apply states like:

- assigned to a particular person

- assign a particular priority

Furthermore you would need a good tool/control to decide what status a "zone" should apply that I can happily setup for a team of 4-10 in 15 mins. Ideally 🤞.

Really would be great functionality, please feel free to reach out to me.

The ability to bulk edit Jira cards would be hugely useful.  We use Miro for affinity sizing for instance, and then we have to open each card and assign the size one at a time.  It’s quite the slow and tedious process.  I’d much rather select all the 5 pointers for instance and assign them all 5 in one go.

Even if not a capability within miro, if multiple jira cards are highlighted it’d be great to be able to open a search view in Jira with just those issues.  Jira’s bulk update capability is already pretty robust so no reason to reinvent that wheel.

I wanted to put in a vote for adding this capability. I just finished an exercise with my team in Miro: Using a block of imported JIRA tickets, we decided which were applicable to our new team via discussion & dragging the tickets around.

Now I have a chunk of JIRA tickets in Miro that I have to edit and update their Team! It would be great to either

  1. Create a JQL filter from the JIRA ticket selection, or
  2. Bulk edit directly from Miro

Another option I tried was to copy & paste into a text editor to see if I could get some information out of that and write my own “Miro clipboard → JQL” converter. But unfortunately, the raw text of a copy/paste does not include the JIRA ticket number.

So a third option to allow bulk edit could be:

  1. The clipboard contents of a JIRA ticket selection includes the ticket number

A final attempt was to bulk edit via multi-select and use the “Create Dependency” option, with the intent to look up the dependency list in JIRA and bulk edit from there. But Create Dependency only allows for a single ticket at a time.

Would also really love to see this feature developed.  We’re using the integration to bring out large groups of cards that are tough to separate in Jira native and using the interface to sort them and estimate them in a more visual way.  We ultimately need to be able to quickly input the results of those exercises back into Jira so it updates our issues and boards for implementation.

Being able to bulk edit would triple the utility of the integration if not more.
