This feature would be great, as we use canvases with descriptions, that should only appear when the user wants them to.
Addtionally, it would be BOMBASTIC to have the option to embbed elements like websites INTO the tooltip window that appears. That would absolutely be amazing.
We use Miro with our clients to show progress in the ideation of our research projects. We need to unclutter our Miro board with additional info that we can hover over and show during a presentation. This idea has been sitting here a while, I hope it comes off paper.

its about reducing visual clutter to retain clean diagrams, but still provide rich content to users of the board. it would also be great if when exporting the board to a pdf or image you can choose whether to include these as static items (not so ideal visually but will extend the value)

Thanks for the feedback, @Rachel Rosen, appreciate it! :]
Hey Miro Team,
Curious if there is any real timeline for this implementation, or just anything you can give us? This is a much requested feature (not just in this thread), and is obviously on the radar with you so could you perhaps update us whether this feature is in the pipeline? :)
Hi @Nikolaj Kaae Kirk
Thanks for your note! We don’t give out timelines, but I can point you to our changelog l https://miro.com/changelog/ ] where you can follow weekly updates of new product features and improvements.
I would love this feature, so we could build instructions into custom templates (for instance, a business model canvas or something similar), to give tips to users on how to best use the template.
I am not sure the “comment” approach suggested by one user would work in a template shared by different teams--I am guessing the comments would not transfer?
Anyway, I love the idea of this custom tool tip to help our collaborators help themselves!
@jboehmanAARP - While comments are duplicated with a board, they also cannot be copied within the same board. They can also be marked as “complete”, which hides them from view unless (each user?) chooses to show resolved comments. So, they are not a risky choice as a workaround for tooltips.
@Robert Johnson Thanks for the additional info! Like many others, I have been wanting a tool tip feature for awhile to make our templates more useful for workshops.
I am in desperate need for this. I use the comment function for signaling red flags in process designs. As I have found a lot of red flags, it becomes to crowded if I add notes to objects by comments as well. If this feature won’t come anytime soon, I will need to move to another process design application.
This feature would be enormously helpful for my current task. Slightly annoying to find that this feature has been consistently requested for at-least the last 3 years, and we still don't have anything like it.
For the time being I am linking dozens of individual elements to link-to a separate documentation section. This is both extremely laborious to set up, and very clunky to navigate.
Comments are a poor substitute, as they are already being used extensively for feedback, and can erroneously be marked as resolved, resulting in many people not seeing them under miro’s default settings.
Oh yes please! This will really help me with my workflow. I hlp myself with comments, but it truly is a nightmare to display them all…
Hi everyone,
Thanks for contributing to the discussion! Our team is keeping an eye out for any updates related to this request. While we don't have news just yet, we encourage you to regularly check the Miro changelog for the latest features and improvements.
As soon as there's an update on this request, we'll be sure to announce it here or update this thread.
Thanks for your input and for helping improve Miro!
PLEASE add zoom/magnification on hover (Mural does this when you hold the ‘x’ key and hover over any object). This is basic functionality that should exist!
+1 this feels like a no-brainer to me and would improve Miro board efficiency greatly - reducing the need for lots of useless walls of text to explain what things do/mean
