Starting today, all Miro users can recover accidentally deleted board content without having to contact support. Based on the feedback provided to us by beta testers, this functionality is especially convenient for big collaborative boards with multiple collaborators.

Board editors (except anonymous guest editors) can restore:

  • Any content deleted from the board during their current active session and 30 minutes after the content was deleted in case the session is over
  • The last 1000 objects deleted from the board – if the restoration occurs more than 30 minutes after the content was deleted
  • Any content deleted from the board if the objects were selected and deleted simultaneously for an indefinite period of time – until the next 1000 objects are deleted

This functionality is accessible via Activity list in the collaboration toolbar in the lower left corner of your Miro board.

@Lena Shenkarenko -

Thanks for the mainstream launch of this crucial feature - it’ll save a lot of rework in the future!

Kiron

Yes! Thank you very much

Many thanks! Very much needed feature!

Thank you for listening. :wave:

As someone who has previously lost a lot work on Miro before - this feature really gives me confidence in using the platform again without constantly having to worry about creating backups of my work.

@Lena Shenkarenko -

It would be great if an enhancement to this could be added to the backlog to be able to rollback updates to objects as well as deletion of objects.

Sometimes the inadvertent or purposeful corruption of a board comes through the actions of someone changing the nature of an object rather than merely deleting it.

Thanks!

Kiron

@Kiron Bondale this is a great idea and definitely something our team is looking into!

@Lena Shenkarenko OMG, thank you so much for listening to us about this!!!

@Lena Shenkarenko - @Bill W just posted about someone deleting a tag and not being able to recover it in the Activity List.

Perhaps there is room for improvement - either allowing the restoration of the tag or a confirmation when deleting the tag, rather than a “undo” with a timeout.

Here’s the post:

what if a user was deleted using the DELETE USER AND CONTENT button.
can we still recover the board the user owns?
it is not in trash nor have been passed to any other member.

@James Brian Tan - Every team member will need to carefully inspect their Trash. However, the trash is emptied after 30 days. After that, any hope of finding the board again would involve a request to Miro support.

Great addition. I’ve definitely had to re-work a lot of boards due to accidental deletion! Thanks for the inclusion
