I’m putting together an online class and would like to share my screen to walk students through the material. I do this in a different app. When sharing my screen in Miro, can I show my whole desktop or is it restricted to just the Miro whiteboard? If so, I’ll have to go back to something like Webex instead of using Miro for all of it.

With the screenshare option of miro you can only share your miro board.
If you like to share your desktop or other applications you have to use other tools like Webex, Zoom, GoToMeeting, Whereby or a new and cool plattform (that works nearly the same but much better):
