I am making talktracks for my students so they don’t have to spend valuable time together online just listening to me presenting slides. So I have put up all my presentations with the new presentation tool available. All in all I have 7 slide decks with around 50 slides in total on my board for the course.  Recording the first talktrack worked like a dream. But the following are giving me a hard time. This is what happens:

I press record on the talktrack. The interface immediately becomes limited and I can basically use the hand and drag myself around the board or click the start presentation button. This is where the annoying thing happens. It always start on 1 so I basically have to click through the previous presentation (and random frames that I might have added between the making of different slide decks) to reach the second.

I have tried to add a button with a link on the first slide as a kind of navigation but the counter doesn’t change and it jumps directly back to nr 2.

I can hack it by changing the order of my slides in the frame tool but I guess that will mess up my previous recordings.

And also, I can not find a way to see my presenter notes while recording the talktrack.

Am I missing something? I this a bug or a feature?

edit: I found a workaround. You can start the recording and then click through the slides you have to skip in order to reach your new start and press the redo take. Then it will start from where you are.

It works. For now at least.

Hi @Ola Janson thanks for sharing the details of your experience!

You’re right that currently the Talktrack recording will default to starting from the first frame in the presentation flow. The workaround you discovered — starting the recording, navigating to your intended slide, and then using Redo take — is a good solution for now.

At the moment, there isn’t a built-in way to:

  • Start a Talktrack from a specific slide deck, or

  • View presenter notes while recording.

I can definitely see how both of these would make the recording workflow smoother. We recommend adding this feedback to the Miro Wish List so the product team and other users can track and upvote it.

Thanks again for taking the time to share your workaround! It will be useful for others running into the same issue!
