Question

Starter -> Free plan – board cannot be edited.

Hi,

I’m having an issue with editing a board in a team that was previously on a paid plan (the subscription expired on May 2). I’m currently the only user in the “E-commerce” team.

I have a few questions:

  1. I’d like to switch the “E-commerce” team from a paid plan to a free plan. Is that even possible?

  2. I want to keep creating boards within this team, but the option to add new boards has disappeared. Does this mean this team can no longer function on a free plan?
Do I need to delete the “E-commerce” team and create a new one to regain access to these features?

  3. How many teams can I belong to on the free Miro plan as a user?

I would really appreciate any guidance here. I feel a bit stuck and not sure what to do next.
At the moment, I can’t edit the existing board, and I’m also unable to create new ones unless I switch back to a paid plan.

Hi @Luke Feldgebel

Thanks for reaching out — happy to help clarify. Yes, it’s possible to switch your “E-commerce” team to the Free plan. You can do this by going to your team dashboard, clicking “Choose your plan” on the banner, and selecting Downgrade. On the Free plan, you can still create and edit boards, but there are a couple of limitations to keep in mind. While you can have unlimited boards, only the 3 most recently created boards are active. Any additional boards will become view-only (locked). This may be why you’re currently unable to edit or create new boards.

Another thing to note is that boards created as private on a paid plan will become locked on the Free plan, since private boards are not supported. To make them editable again, you’ll need to share the board with the team. There’s no need to delete your team — you can continue using it within these limits. Also, you can be part of multiple teams on the Free plan.

If you’re still unable to access or edit a specific board, feel free to share more details and we can take a closer look.
