Separate Instances for Each User

Is there any way to create a board or template so that every person who clicks on the link to it will get their own unique instance to work with?

I am creating an online course, and I would like to provide a link to a Miro board so that each user taking the course can click it and get a fresh board to work with. I know that I can create multiple copies of a board with unique URLs, but that doesn’t really work in this context.

Is what I want to do possible? If not, are there any recommended workarounds?

@Mark Logan -

The only way to do this would be to create a publicly shared template from your course board and then provide the link to that template to learners to use as the starting point for a new board each would create.

Here’s how you’d do the sharing: https://community.miro.com/product-news-31/sharing-links-for-templates-6278

@Mark Logan - It sounds like your recipients of the template will not be team members, Custom Templates will not work (they also don’t work for Guests or Visitors).

Instead, consider using boards with Visitor mode, i.e., Anyone with the link → Can view. Also, you will need to make sure your board’s Content Settings are set to Anyone with the board access can copy/duplicate the board.

With this configuration in place, anyone with a Miro account can:

  1. Click on your board link
  2. Click on the board name
  3. And use the Duplicate action to make a copy of the board in their account.

To try this now yourself, here is a board that is in my account that you cannot modify, but can take a copy of:

I have detailed all of this in the following post:
