Selection of objects

Autocad uses this feature for selection of objects:

“If picking an object selects only one object at one pick, you can select more objects at once by using window selections. A window is defined by two diagonal points; like drawing a rectangle. There are two different ways of selecting more objects using window, and by doing this you should never click on an object line; of course, then it would be a pick selection.

Draw a window from left to right. All objects inside the window frame will be selected.

Draw a window from right to left. All objects inside the window frame, the ones which window frame crosses or simply touches will be selected.

You can select object using a line or a fence.  When prompted to select objects, type [F] for fence and simply draw a dashed line across objects you want to select. All crossed and touched objects will be selected.”

Would be really really helpful to implement something like this for Miro too!

Hi @Deepa,

Thanks for reaching out to us!

Miro allows select several objects at once. All you need to do is to click&hold for 1 second the left button of your mouse/trackpad until the Cross appears. Then the only thing that is left is to select the objects.

Does this help? I look forward to your reply!

Any chance to have a switchable setting to make this a default behaviour? So I would not need to press a button for 1 second every time I need to select an object?

@Roman Romanov - This is not currently an option. Other’s were really disappointed that Miro changed the default behaviour when adding a new feature - now some are suffering from “death by a thousand long presses” ☹️

Here is a Wish List post that you may want to upvote - it’s an option for selecting the default behaviour at the user level → https://community.miro.com/ideas/allow-the-drag-selection-tool-to-either-select-intersect-or-select-contained-6867

@Deepa - I am reading your post as a suggestion/feature idea for Miro to implement. If this is the case, I believe this Wish List post is asking for the same functionality as Autocad - you may want to upvote it → https://community.miro.com/ideas/alter-selection-with-right-left-drag-8200
