I had to downgrade to a free account after getting laid off. My account says I have 37 boards (34 view only) but i cannot find the 3 editable boards. When on the Home page, I only see view only boards. How do I get to my 3 editable boards?

HI @AshleyS C thanks for reaching out!

The Free plan allows creating an unlimited number of boards but only the 3 most recently created ones are active. Note that this limit is applicable to the whole team (not to every team member individually).

The board becomes inactive because it was created as private when on the paid plan. Since board privacy is not supported on the Free plan, the board gets locked and available for the Board owner and explicitly invited users for viewing only. When hovering over the board you'll see the message: Free plan users can collaborate on 3 active team boards. Private boards are locked.

To start working on the inactive board again, you should share it with your team.

thanks, but i still dont understand.

I am the sole user in the account, its just for me. I am logged in with my account and dont have access to any boards to edit
Why would i need to give myself access if I am the only user on the account?

i found a different post that said to duplicate the board and now i can edit the duplicate board…..this is a silly workaround. but thank you for your time

@AshleyS C There are several gaps in Miro’s paid-to-free downgrade flow, including:

  1. Any board’s where the team access is set to No access should likely be change to something other than No access (e.g., View — not Edit, because then only the owner can edit the board).
  2. The ideal path would be for the owner to update the team access, however, if there is only one team member, the Team permissions is not visible — the quick hack to invite a bogus email address to the team.

For all readers:
