Hello

When listing the last changed date of boards, they appear for me in US specific format.

How do I change this to dd/MMM/yyyy format, e.g. 16/11/2021 or 16/Nov/2021.

My browser is set to UK English.

thanks

Was it helpful?

Hi Craig!

Thanks for reaching out to us with your question!

Can you help us a little bit understanding better where exactly you see the date format that you’d like to change? Are you looking at a list of all your boards and selected Last modified? Or did I get you completely wrong and you are looking somewhere completely different?

I’m looking forward to your answer so we can get to the bottom of this!:nerd:

It’s that screen. When you set view mode to list, the older dates appear as 5/26/19 for instance.

@Craig Cockburn -

My guess is that this might be hardcoded in Miro rather than it taking a system or browser setting. For example, my system setting is YYYY-MM-DD whereas the Miro list of boards modified before 2021 shows up as MM/DD/YYYY.

Kiron

Wow and of course its hardcover to a format used by only one country on the planet.

Microsoft used the Model Vew Controller approach in the early 90s to stop this and I think from my earlier days that a lot of localisation work happened in the early 1980s.

Any update on this? Hardcoded date format to a format only one country uses is confusing for everyone else.

2/3/2022 is open to interpretation as either the 2nd of March or the the 3rd of February.

Any update? Maybe hardcoding to a format used by only one country wasn’t a great idea?

Hi @Craig Cockburn!

First of all I would like to apologise - profoundly so! - for keeping you waiting! Somehow this has gotten lost and I never replied to you but this was definitely not our intention!

Thank you also, @Kiron Bondale, who is right in his presumption that this is unfortunately not something that can be changed or adjusted to your browser settings, your country’s conventions or personal preference 😕 - yet, that is!

May I suggest you head over head over to our Community and submit your idea to our Wish List? Creating a profile in Community takes less than a minute - you can use your Miro credentials to sign in. By adding your idea, you’ll help us collect all the feedback in one place and make sure it is reviewed by our product teams.

Currently, I can see that there is one similar, albeit not quite the same, request about changing the date format: Changing the date format, so this definitely seems to be something other users are interested in as well!

Please note that you can submit your own suggestion but also upvote additions to the wish list made by other users. ✏

I’m sorry I cannot be of more help with this but we certainly hope to see your idea on our wish list soon - thank you for helping to make Miro better!💪

Have a great start to the week and all the best!

This is essential for us too. I logged a support request and was told to change my locale from English to German or another language!! … clearly that doesn’t help me or my team.

mm/dd/yyyy appears to be unique in the English speaking world to the USA (and possibly Canada although I’ve seen both from friends/colleagues in Canada).

Don’t take my word for it - see for example: List of date formats by country - Wikipedia

Miro - can you please add an English (International) local that uses dd/mm/yyyy or better yet just expose the date format as a preference that the user can set as they see fit?
