I have a free account now with 1 team. One team member wants to create his own free account, using the same email. Is it possible? When he tries he gets a message that he is already registered.

@Vivianne Joras - Yes, every Miro account holder is allowed to create one Free Plan team. And a Miro account can belong to a number of teams, e.g., here’s my Miro dashboard when I sign in with my Gmail address - I am on seven teams:

So, your friend can definitely create his own on Free Plan team using the same email address. However, there is a known issue reported by some users who have gone through this process of starting their Miro account as a member on someone else's team and later wanting to create their own. I will outline the typical a scenario and what to watch out for. It goes like this:

  • someone gets invited to join a team in Miro (free or paid) - the invitation sent to  an email address that does not have an account associated with it
  • they click the link, are taken to Miro, create their account, and are added to this team
  • now when they want to create when they want to create their own Free Plan team, and they click the Add teams “+” symbol in their Miro dashboard:
  • they are prompted for a team name, and then taken to a payment page.

To create his own Free Plan team, your friend will need to be removed from ALL teams he is on. Assuming he is only in your team, he will need to:

  1. Leave your team - they can do this on their own or you can delete them from the team (don’t worry, you can add them back later)
  2. Here is the issue reported by a number of users (but this may have been fixed by now) After being removed from your team, your friend may just get the Miro loading/spinner logo and it will appear that their Miro account is broken.
  3. To get past this, your friend should sign into Miro from a private/incognito browser window (or completely different browser or computer).
  4. This should ‘reset’ things for them and allow them to create their Free Plan team.
  5. Then you can add them back to your Free Plan team if you’d like and they could add you to theirs if they’d like (then you’d have access to six editable boards between the two of you - three boards in his and three in yours).

I just typed up a reply to a similar question/post this morning. Here’s the link:
