Accessing Boards via Browser vs App

I was invited to a board as a Guest - I can access/interact/edit the board in the browser as required via a bookmarked link.

I have just downloaded the Windows app expecting to see the board somewhere.
I checked the board in the browser and it gives me the option to Unstar it but when I go to Starred, it’s not there so obviously I won’t see it in the app either.

Can anyone provide some insight into what’s going on regarding

  • seeing the board in my Starred items
  • seeing the board in the app as well as the browser
  • searching for the board in the app

Thanks in anticipation

@KevinPFP To clarify, there are differences between a Guest and a Visitor. A Guest is added to a board using the Guests feature and Visitors are people access boards using the “Anyone with the link” feature — often referred to as public access. More on the differences here:

If you were added as a Guest, you will be able to find the board by switching your dashboard view to the team where the board resides. More on this here.

Starred (and Recent) boards views

You will only be able to see boards you have starred if you are

  1. A member of the team where the board resides
  2. A Guest.

So, for example, if I added you a Guest on a board that is in one of my several teams in my Business Plan, and you starred the board, you would see it in your Starred boards page, but only if you had switched your dashboard view to my team.

To show you this in action, here is a Guest link for comment access to a board in one of my teams:

Opening a public/Visitor-only access board from within the desktop app

A few options:

  1. Create a board in your team called “Starred external boards”, add the desired board link in a text object, and star your board. When you click board links from within the context of the desktop app, they will open in the desktop app.
  2. If you have access to Spaces, you would click the “+” from within a Space, Select Embed, and paste in the board link - this will open that board within a board.
