Will the ability to unlockl Protected Lock items change when board owner changes

Hi

I have someone create my miro boards for me, which also involved locking the boards. I want the boards to be Protected Lock so the person creating the boards is the owner. When she transfers the board ownership to me, it seems that I, despite now being the owner, can’t unlock items?

Is this correct? I would have thought that with the change of ownership came the ability to unlock protected items? If it doesn’t it means I have to do all my own locking, which I’d really rather not!

Any answers?

thanks

Nina

Hi

Thanks - and this is so embarrassing - I have two miro accounts so the reason I wasn’t able to unlock was that I had by mistake logged in with the account where I’m not an owner. Which I realised after about 30 mins. So issue resolved (or never existed) - and thank you for your quick response!

Hi @Nina Oden,

Thanks for reaching out!

I replicated the this using my own Miro account and tested it as a guest. I locked an item on a board where my profile was the owner, and then I tried unlocking it using my guest account. It worked as expected — the guest profile was able to unlock the item.

To help clarify the situation, I’d like to ask a few more questions to better understand the issue you’re facing:

  1. What type of locked item are you referring to? Is it a frame, sticky note, or another type of object on the board?

  2. Are you working with any hidden frames or elements that may be causing confusion with the locking mechanism?

  3. If possible, could you share a screenshot or a short video of the board showing the locked items and your attempt to unlock them? This would really help us pinpoint the exact issue.

Looking forward to hearing back from you!
