Question

Shapes keep moving to the front

I have a board consisting of large squares which I’m using as a background to put small squares containing text onto.
However, the background squares keep moving to the front, making the squares with text in disappear behind them.
I’m the only person with edit rights, and I have checked the board history. Neither me or anyone else is moving these to the front/moving the text squares to the back. It just seems to be doing it by itself.
Has anyone seen this before? Can anyone help?
For now I’ve made the background squares transparent, but that kinda defeats the object of having them.

Was it helpful?

I’ve been having the same problem the last two days with images moving to the front randomly. I’ve tried grouping them and locking them, but even when they are locked they do it. Would love to hear if anyone has a solution for it.

I just figured out that a shape being around a Kanban board, and the shape being “in front” of the Kanban board, leaves the “+ Add card” action inaccessible. Maybe this is all related… I will at least include a link to this post with the help desk ticket that I just opened for my issue.

I have the same issue. Wasted such a lot of time in trying to move some object to the front and vice versa. Still stuck….

Same issue. Items are randomly switching positions, even if they are locked. Last time I had a quick message “Miro board is updating” and all of my “background squares” came back to the front (or the content went to the back?). It is really frustrating when a few squares come back to the front and cover the content so I have to unlock every square, send it to back and lock it again.

Hi @Nerson,

Thanks for sharing your experience! It sounds like the issue might be related to how Miro updates the board content. If elements are shifting even when locked, this could be unexpected behavior.

Could you try these troubleshooting steps?

  1. Check if the issue happens in an incognito window or a different browser.
  2. If you have any browser extensions, try disabling them temporarily.
  3. See if the issue persists on a new board with similar elements.

If the problem continues, I recommend reaching out to Miro Support with a short screen recording to illustrate the issue.

Let us know if any of these steps help!
