I’ve been working out how to use pre-recorded videos for Talktrack, so that I can get the delivery right, apply edits, then navigate the board.

  • Set up an OBS Virtual Camera and add your pre-recorded video as a Media Source.
  • Ensure that the audio from the media source is being sent to the virtual camera with the Monitor and Output setting.
  • Route your audio to a virtual sound source. If you’re on a Mac I’ve found Blackhole to be the best way to do this, and the Multi Output Device preset is ideal as it will enable you to hear the audio whilst navigating the board as part of the Talktrack recording.
  • Select your virtual webcam and virtual sound source as part of the Talktrack recording.
  • 🎥…
  • Profit!

Of course, this will be redundant if it becomes possible to upload videos to Talktrack, but until then...

Was it helpful?

Hi @David Shanks

Thanks for sharing this creative workaround for using pre-recorded videos in Talktrack! It's great to see how you're utilizing OBS and virtual sound sources to enhance your presentation workflow. This approach can definitely help users refine their delivery while navigating the board smoothly.

As you mentioned, being able to upload videos directly to Talktrack would simplify the process, I suggest submitting a wishlist idea. Feel free to check this guide: Everything You Need to Know About Miro Wish List.

Also, if you’re interested in learning more about some of Miro’s biggest product updates that may be relevant to your use case, save your spot here at our Canvas ‘24 event happening October 8th. Please let me know if you have any additional questions – happy to help!

Thanks @David Shanks for this input!

I tried this on a windows and resorted to this pipeline:

This instance uses a local video file on the PC’s drive as the source within OBS. To set this up, download file in desired quality with Audio and set that up as a Media Source under sources in OBS.

  1. Download VoiceMeeter Banana.
  2. In system sound settings, ensure Output is Voicemeeter Input  and Input is Voicemeeter Out A1.
  3. OBS side settings : Under Edit> Advanced Audio Properties, ensure that under Media Source,  Audio Monitoring is set to Monitor and Output.
  4. Under General Audio Settings in OBS, ensure, under Advanced, Monitoring device is set to Voicemeeter Input (VB-Audio Voicemeeter VIAO).
  5. MIRO Side settings: Set camera as OBS Virtual camera and Audio input as Voicemeeter Out B1(VB-Audio...)
  6. Start talktrack, quickly jump to OBS and start playing the source.
