When working together with others on the Card type element, which pops open, there is an irritating problem. Often we use the Card type as part of a story map and together we discuss the contents of the card and make changes.

Problem: Unless the screen is shared, there is no way to know or see if someone has that card open. That kind of defeats part of the purpose. Especially if you use the Miro video chat, you are not able to open a card for everyone to see and discuss together.

How do you work around this? Only way I have found is to take a screenshot and paste it mid-screen.

Was it helpful?

For any readers who are not familiar with Cards, when a user opens the card to expose most details, it opens in a modal window, e.g.:

There modal windows are all executed and viewed at the individual user/board participant level.

@Kimmo J Kyle - A few strategies I sometimes employ:

  • Screenshare in Miro - if you have a Team, Consultant, Business, or Enterprise Plan, you can start a screenshare in Miro rather than having to fire up a 3rd party screensharing app (however, you’re probably already in as you collaborate via a Miro virtual whiteboard...). The Miro screensharing feature was moved inside of the Video Chat feature, which (sadly) creates additional steps :(
  • Highlight which Card everyone should be opening - I have dragged an arrow (or a pin icon from Iconfinder) around the board to show where I am currently at, and then advised everyone to open the Card.
    • Depending on the Cards size-to-board zoom ratio, and the amount of details inside the Card, you can see some of them by zooming in on the Card.

Wish List

I would definitely suggest creating a Wish List post for this - or let me know if you’d like this post moved to the Wish List category, and what you would like the title changed to.

Thanks. I wasn’t able to get the Chat screen share working as intended. No one else saw any difference  on the screen when they had joined it.

Yes please, wish list would be great. Just call it:
