When working with layers, how do you only select items on that layer (prevent auto switching of layer in focus)?

Layers is a good feature. However I find it difficult to work with since all objects are clickable no matter what layer is selected. I would expect the system to allow me to interact with objects on the selected layer only.

CTRL + A should only select objects on the selected layer, not all objects on all layers.

Am I missing something? Is there a way to do this allready?

I’m also confused by this; maybe the only function of layers is to help streamline front-to-back placement?

Seems like kind of an important feature - I would really like to be able to ONLY select items on a specific layer while I have that layer selected. 🤔

Hi @Mattias Nordin and @FakeJava, thanks for raising this!

At the moment, Layers in Miro are mainly for organizing, hiding/locking, and controlling front-to-back placement of objects. They don’t currently restrict selection or interaction to the active layer only.

Since this sounds like a valuable improvement for workflows, I’ll go ahead and move this post over to our Wish List so the product team and other community members can track and support the idea.
