Public Link password expiration minimum time limit

We allow our users to share their boards externally using public links protected by passwords. At present the minimum time limit for a link is 30 days. When the user shares a link and has a collaboration workshop our users have to remember to disable the link after otherwise the link is active for 30 days. We have some internal guidance that advises that is what they should do but of course not everyone remembers to disable them.

We would like this minimum link activation limit reduced to 1 day. Is there a technical restriction as to why this can’t be done?

Hi @James Sidwell Admin,

Thanks for taking the time to submit your idea. It looks like this is actually a duplicate of an existing request: [https://community.miro.com/ideas/public-link-expiration-and-password-enforcement-2954

To consolidate votes and feedback for this request to one place, I'm going to close out your idea and merge it with the existing one. You can continue to monitor updates and progress at the link above!

Hasn’t that request : [https://community.miro.com/ideas/public-link-expiration-and-password-enforcement-2954 been completed. It is from 3 years ago and the request was to have the ability to set expirations. That is possible today. My request is to have the minimum time reduced to one day instead of 30 days and as such is a different request.

Hi @James Sidwell Admin

Thank you for clarifying your use case! I appreciate your patience. I’ve changed the status of your post back to OPEN to ensure your request for a minimum link activation limit of 1 day is properly considered.

I will let the team know about this specific request, and it is currently open for votes and comments. If you have any further insights or suggestions, feel free to share!

Hi @Eca

Is there any progress on this? I was about to submit a similar request as a new idea but came across this one, which aligns closely with our needs.

Let me add our use case as well:
Due to security policies, our team is restricted from using public sharing links in Miro. However, there are scenarios—such as workshops—where temporary access is necessary. After discussing with our security team, we agreed that even 1 day is too long, and a validity period of a few hours would be much more appropriate.

Having a 30-day minimum feels excessive and unnecessarily risky. From a technical perspective, it seems like a relatively small change, as the configuration already exists—just the minimum limit needs to be adjusted.

Could you please share if there are any plans to move this forward? I noticed this request has been open for over a year, and it would be helpful to understand if it's on the roadmap or under consideration.

Thanks again @James Sidwell Admin for raising this important request.
