Currently: Guest share links to boards are automatically reset every 30 days
(Note: this is not currently clear either in the interface nor the support pages)

Problem: For those of us using guest share links via fixed sources such as emails, pdfs, other Miro boards or saved as quick snippets in our notebook, this is frustrating

  1. Invitees who click on an expired share link are confused to be sent straight to their dashboard - there is no communication that the link is reset, they wonder why they are not landing where they think they are going.
  2. The above makes the board owner look sloppy
  3. The above requires unnecessary extra dialogue between invitee and owner
  4. Board owners now have to set a reminder to get the new link
  5. Board owners now have to change the link anywhere they’ve stored it
  6. Board owners might need to consider purchasing link redirect software so that any links sent in uneditable channels such as emails or pdfs can at least be updated in a central location
  7. There is no indication of when the link will be reset - frustrating and bound to result in not catching the reset link when it changes

Desired reality:

  • Control of link permanence: Give the board owner the control of choosing between either resetting the link every 30 days, or keeping it the same until changed otherwise
  • Ability to manually reset share links: For optimal security it would be good to be able to reset public and guest links manually - not have to create a duplicate board and re-add old guests as a workaround

Thanks for pointing this out, @Lucie A - otherwise I would have head to learn this for myself, and waste my, my colleagues, and the Miro’s support team’s time to figure this out.

@Lucie A It looks like a note was added about this on the Sharing boards and inviting collaborators help center article:
