Today a board page in the browser redirects to the desktop app (miroapp://) as soon as it loads, when "Always open in Desktop app" is enabled. That setting is on by default.
The problem is that browsers sometimes load pages without the user opening them. Safari on macOS, for example, loads bookmarked pages in the background to fetch icons. I had a few old Miro boards bookmarked in Safari, and as a result the Miro desktop app kept launching on its own after every login. After I uninstalled the app, macOS showed "There is no application set to open the URL miroapp://…" instead. The full troubleshooting is here:
Suggestion: Only trigger the desktop-app redirect after a user action, such as an "Open in desktop app" button. At minimum, only redirect when the page is actually visible to the user. A page loading in the background should never launch the app.
Why it matters: Apps that launch unexpectedly are confusing and look like malfunction. The cause is very hard for users to track down.
