PLEASE just provide us with that silly line form!

I don’t want to misuse the connector because:

  • I don’t want to try which is the right “no-snap-key” whenever I need the line again
  • I don’t want to configure away the arrow edge of the line connector. and then when I need the lines again, I have to define it again. And when I need a line again….. this is no good UX!

I just created my community account to post this. Hopefully it helps.

The rest of Miro is quite nice :)

oh, and with the “connector line misuse” you have to be very cautious if you want to remove/replace the object below the line - could be that the line is “unexpectedly connected” and also gets deleted...

Here’s what you can’t do (in bold) with a straight line in Miro, if it is a connector (your only option):

Make a straight horizontal line of arbitrary length (i.e. not using the grid to measure it). Colour it blue. Copy it and colour the copy red. Rotate the copy by 90° without changing the length.

Align the two lines so that their horizontal and vertical centres are aligned, making a “+” sign.

Now align the two lines so that their left edge and bottom are aligned, making an “L.”

This is all easy to do in most graphics programs I’ve used, near impossible to do in Miro. There’s ways to cheat using connectors, but good luck with the colours.

This is maybe the one feature powerpoint does better.  Moving lines around is painful with Miro always trying to snap things.  Yes for diagramming etc Miro’s connection lines are infinitely better than powerpoint shape lines, but sometimes a shape line is exactly what I want.  This would be a very helpful feature.
