I have seen this everywhere but not an easy way to find it. The request is SUPER easy.

Import an Icon (SVG PNG really anything) Allow me to add text without grouping. Its a time killer to create the text. Line it up, Group it and then if I want to group more its fine but if I have to upgroup…. you know it ungroups everything so I am back to square 1.

The default text should be the file name.

BOOM this solves so many requests and issues for SO many. I then can drag 100’s of Icons in at a time to make my own icons…. Everything we use is custom Icons.

This is why we do not have full company adoption. I could expand this tool to the whole org if it at least did this.

Could you elaborate on this idea please? I don’t understand. From what you’ve written and asking for this is currently possible. You can import any image - png, svg, jpg. And then you can put text using the text tool anywhere you want near it, on it, align it, all without it grouping. I feel like I am missing something.

Correct you can do both separately but now If I move 1 I then have to move both. Today I can group the text with the image or icon but they are still separate.

I want it to act like a shape. For example, If I grab any of the cisco shapes, the text comes with it and I don’t need to make text for it. The spacing is always the same etc.

If I import any image, it already comes with the file name, I just want it to put the text on it for me to eliminate a lot of extra touches.

@jgoetschel could you maybe give an example in any other drawing, graphics, flowchart or whiteboard tool that you have seen this? Sorry I am really not understanding what you mean. I don’t get the connection between the image, it’s filename and “putting text on it”

Or maybe you could try and illustrate it visually?

@BurtyC The Reason for the FILE NAME is so when the Icon on the Left if dropped in, the TEXT of the File name would be Married / Grouped / Grounded to the image like the shape on the right. Again the reason for the FILE Name is because I can then drop 20 Icons in all at once and it would all be named and ready to be used. TODAY I would have to label each one separately and then deal with the Grouping issues.

@jgoetschel I was struggling with the same issue but think i might have just found a solution. I had previously been dragging my custom icons onto my board and had to manually add a text box and then group the icon and text together. But i have found that if i instead open the Diagraming toolbar and then click on the Add Shape button under My Shapes, my icon is imported and i get the option to add text to it like all the other diagraming shapes. Hope this helps to solve your issue.
