In other similar software the way the alignment tool usually works is that the element you select first is leading. So if I select three elements and hit ‘Align horizontally’, then the first selected element doesn’t move while the other two are shifted left or right to align their centres with the first one.
In Miro this doesn’t work. The order of selecting has no effect, and the software seems to decide whether to move one or both. That makes it really annoying to add a shape and align it with existing ones.
I tried locking the one I want to keep in place but that doesn’t work because you can’t select a locked shape.
I tried moving them around to see if Miro prefers to keep the top or bottom shape in place but again no luck.
Adding this (keep the first selected shape in place) would make it much easier and more intuitive to move shapes around.
