Get back "shift"->select mode!!!

When I pressing a "shift" key it takes be to mode select. That is very comfortable function and I using it very efficiently. Usually that work next way: I wrote a mistake, then instantly correcting it using a switching by pressing a "shift" key. Now this function disapeared :(
Get back it again!!!
