Miro is fantastic on a massive screen. It’s like you can see, arrange and rearrange your mind in 2d. The bright background and colours work well for feeling energised, fresh, and productive early in the day. For those of us who get more done during the night, however, the brightness can feel glaring and have the opposite effect, causing fatigue, especially with extended use.
It feels like a godsend to night-owls that the software industry is finally recognising our needs with dark mode being added to everything. While the implementation would understandably be no small task, I, for one, would greatly benefit from dark mode being added to what has become a fantastic tool in my work and lifestyle.
Thank you for Miro, and the Wishlist,
Walter

Chiming in wanting this. Miro is my only app that doesn’t have a dark mode. And while I can set *MY* boards to have a black background, the moment I open someone else’s board (which I collaborate on frequently) I am immediately blinded by a giant wall of white. Light sensitivity is a thing, Gainsight. Get this done. Every modern OS offers a dark mode (or auto light/dark switching at sunset/sunrise) it’s time to get with the program.
At the time of writing, this is your most-voted community suggestion with 25% more than 2nd place and nearly 2x more than 3rd place.
PLEASE implement a native Dark Mode that doesn’t rely on browser plugins.
That is not solution ! all images are inverted if using Dark Reader, also Dark Reader dont work with miro app on mobile and PC only in browser.
Miro need proper Dark Mode just like any other app in 2025

Exactly! I forgot to write down my comments: When using Dark Reader extension on Windows, the default is a mess! You need to manually adjust it to “Filter+” so you have more or less a decent but unofficial experience.
As you mentioned, this is not a proper solutions since works badly and it’s not available for mobile phones.
I can’t understand how companies dare to avoid the dark mode since is super necessary for our eyes. Amazon does the same stupidity for it’s website and app, and the same Mercado Libre (the most used eshop in the whole Latin America, even more than Amazon).
this is beyond ridiculous, are they actively trying to mess with our eyes. I’ve been looking for alternative solutions just to have this simple, but important, CHOICE
I haven’t read all the replies (obviously!), but I wanted to flag that dark mode is not just about preference - it’s about accessibility. I have a neurological condition which makes my eyes more sensitive to light and causes blurred areas made worse on a white background. Dark mode massively improves this. At the moment using Miro is ‘workable’, but a properly designed dark mode would make for a much better and easier experience.
All other threads about darkmode are merging with this one. 12 pages and 4 years of begging Miro to make it happen and nothing. It’s easy to say that Miro is not listening and the feature upvotes are for nothing.
Thanks for your continued engagement and feedback on this feature request for Dark Mode / Night Mode. We understand how important this improvement is and appreciate the votes and discussions around it.
While we don't have immediate plans to share regarding the implementation of this request, we want to assure you that the team is aware of the request and closely monitoring community input.
If there are any updates we’ll be sure to share them through status updates and comments here in the wish list item. Please continue sharing your thoughts.
Thanks again for being part of the community!
Miro’s leader ignore more than 2000 user’s upvotes.
Moreover, with new Figma’s variables, it’s easier to prototype darkmode.
Please be modern by offering users choice.
As someone who fights with migraines daily, PLEASE dark mode! <3
How has this seriously taken over 4 years and still no progress? It’s such a basic thing to implement compared to other features. You can bet Figjam will have this very soon, easier to just move to that.
Love the new Doc and Diagram features. But now we absolutely need a dark mode as changing the background color no longer works (in focus mode).
Let’s get on this Miro!!
Really Miro? You changed all the icons to be more “aesthetic”? (the pencil icon is now diagonal instead of straight up and down so now it looks like it would if you were holding it… yay, templates and sticky notes now have rounded edged… cool /s, the comment icon is now a circular text bubble instead of a square one... that’ll fix things.)
That’s what you consider a higher priority than implementing a dark mode?
4 years later still no dark mode. Disappointing to say the least. Dark mode should be a given now a days in 2025 lol Miro is still behind unfortunately...

The great shame is that they even cannot fix black mouse pointers on black background.
I've been using Miro for a long time, it’s been part of my workflow for years. But every single time I open it, I get this urge to close it as quickly as possible. Not because it’s a bad tool. Because it’s physically painful to use.
Everything around it: my OS, IDE, browser, apps is in dark mode. Miro sits in the middle like a flashlight in my face. Using it feels like I’m being punished for trying to think visually.
People have been asking for dark mode for years. The fact that it’s still not implemented just feels like a bad joke.
Studies have shown that bright white backgrounds lead to faster visual fatigue, eye strain, and disruption of circadian rhythms, especially in low-light environments. We’re not in 2015 anymore. Most of us don’t sit in corporate offices under those awful ceiling lights. We work at home, at night, in ambient lighting. We care about how we see, because our eyes are the interface.
Miro feels stuck in the past. And it's not a charming kind of nostalgia, it's frustrating. We're not just asking for a new paint job. We're asking for basic respect for usability and comfort.

As a programmer I think that if you can’t apply this feature is because your code arquitecture can’t bring it to life. It is the only explanation I have… maybe your code is too big and complicated which is not good at all and that is why you can’t apply dark mode to it.
It is so sad that the most necessary feautre is not available when ALL apps and well known pages have it!
Why do you keep ignoring us? Please be honest at least to understand, but saying that this is not a priority...hmmm.
how has it been 4 years and still no darkmode?
Dark Mode Please. It will be a savior.
Hey guys, there’s a free Chrome extension that can enable night mode for Miro. U have been using i for a while now and I’ve put together a simple walkthrough to help you get started—just follow the link below for step-by-step instructions. If you have any questions along the way, feel free to ask!
