Typically, when I’ve been conducting a KJ with sticky notes, we will be dragging them around the board into physical groups, giving each group a title (typically a rectangle object with a background and the name of the theme), and grouping them together.
We usually use frames as an overall working space for all of the generative sticky notes we have in a workshop (separates them from the rest of the whiteboard) and create these themed groups within them. The larger frame works wonderfully in this way as we can move the entire contents of the frame with all of the individual groups within the board at once if we need to reorganize the board.
With the new AI features, I’ve been experimenting with “clusters” more. As I’ve learned, by design, clusters are actually mini-frames.
Because of this, anything made within a “cluster” doesn’t move when you move the larger working area frame that we typically use. You are required to select the frame and all of the individual clusters in order to move them all somewhere else on the board.
The idea here, would be to either:
- Re-think the concept that “clusters” are their own frame, and reduce them to their own groups of objects
- Consider the concept of nested frames such that anything within the larger frame can move together when the larger frame is moved.
