Ability to draw straight lines

With this in mind, we are marking this idea as an Existing Feature.

Straight Line with Shift Key does not work when snapping to objects. For example in the attached image, despite holding Shift I cannot force the line to be straight. Other tools for block diagram have this figured out, it would be great if this issue was fixed or if a workaround is available?

Thanks for sharing this! You're right — holding Shift typically constrains line angles, but when snapping to objects, Miro can override that behavior, leading to the issue you’re seeing here. It’s a known pain point for diagramming workflows that need precision.

In the meantime, one possible workaround is to:

• Draw the line away from objects first while holding Shift to get a clean angle,

• Then reposition the endpoints near the shapes after.

Not ideal, but it might help until this gets some love from the product team!

Being unable to draw straight lines while snapping to objects is a major pain point. I have to try so many times to get it straight; as soon as I connect it to the shape, it messes up the angle I had while holding shift. This should be reopened.

This captures the problem very well. Totally agree, this is one of the most painful (and surprising) limitations in Miro. Would be great to get a fix for this.

I heartily agree this is a must-have.
