Delete ALL tags for objects on a board

Roger Wheeler

I would like to re-use a Miro board with a new group of people (students).  The board has been copied, cleaned up, and is ready for the new group ... but the tags created by the previous users still exist.  I can’t seem to find a way to delete all tags in one efficient way … I can delete each tag, one at a time, but I’m looking for a faster method.  Any ideas?

Was it helpful?

@Roger Wheeler - Greetings from Regina, Saskatchewan! /=S=/

You are right – there is currently one-step action to delete all tags.

Miro Developer Platform

From a quick look at the Miro Developer Platform, it should be possible for someone with a development background to build a quick app using Miro’s REST API that could delete all tags on a board. Here is more info that you could share with a developer → https://developers.miro.com/reference/get-tags-from-board

Requesting it as a feature

If you’d like, I could go ahead and move your post to the Wish List idea category where others can upvote it as a feature they would like to see – just give the word!

Process

Out of curiosity, is there a reason why you cannot maintain one master board (with no tags) that you copy/duplicate and use for each session?

Hello Robert.

Very helpful - thank you!  Please go ahead and elevate my question to a wish.

I do create “original” boards and copy them for release to a section/class of students … but sometimes I am motivated to modify the class board in the moment in response to something that happens and/or the class does/creates something so unexpected/cool that I want to replace my “original” with their board for future use as an updated “original”.  In many cases it is easier to copy the used board as a whole and remove the user-specific data (include tags) than it is to copy new frames, etc over to my “original”.  There can sometimes be over 40 tags. Just looking for a quick(er) method.

Thanks again!

Cheers, Roger.
