Dear Miro Team,

I use Miro for all my projects.

I recently completed my PhD at the university, where I had been using the email address for my Miro Educational (student) account. I am now employed at another university, and my former email address was deleted, resulting in my Miro account being degraded. My working boards are locked, so I can't even transfer the backup to the new account (the one I am using now to make this post).

I am really scared of losing my data. Can you help me with this please?

my old account is: ilguen@student.tugraz.at

Warm Regards,

Asyimut

Hi @Asyimut,

I understand how important it is to retain your work, and I’d be happy to guide you on this!

If you had set up a password for your Miro account with the deactivated email, you may still be able to log in using your previous credentials even though the email itself is inactive. This would allow you to access the boards and transfer content manually.

If your boards were shared within a team or have collaborators with access, you can ask one of them to remove your old profile connected to the deactivated email address, then add your new profile as a member. They can also transfer ownership of the boards to your new account to maintain access.

If neither option is possible, please note that Miro Support is limited in these cases due to security policies, and may not be able to access or transfer data from a deactivated account.

Let me know if you need further assistance, and best of luck with your transition!

Hi! I met the exact same issue - problem is that after I filled in the email and password, Miro mandantorily ask for a SSO sign-in. It’s not possible to signin only with email and password.

Is that a solvable issue?

Thank you!

Yuan

Hi @YTS

If your Miro profile is part of an organization that has SSO (Single Sign-On) enforced, you’ll automatically be directed to sign in using that method — signing in with just an email and password won’t be possible in that case.

If you believe this is incorrect or need access via a different method, I’d recommend reaching out to your org’s Miro admin or IT team to confirm the login settings.

Hi Eca,

Thank you for the help! I have contacted my organisation(my univeristy) side. The thing is - I have graduated and my organisation account has been deleted - which means I can not sign in via SSO and there’s nothing they can do about it.

Would it possible that I prove myself being the owner of that account and someone from your IT could access it and share my old miro boards with me?

Thank you again!

Yuan
