Not sure why the navigation pane on the left keeps disappearing when I open a board. Not thrilled with the new setup. Also by default bookmark isn’t going to my group any longer then I have to search for the group. These recent updates are not user friendly and making much harder to navigate. I loved the way it was set up before. Not an improvement from my perspective
Hi
Sorry to hear the new navigation’s been frustrating. It definitely shouldn’t be making your workflow harder.
To help us better understand:
-
Is the left navigation disappearing only on certain boards, or all of them?
-
What device are you using?
-
Are you using Miro in a browser or the desktop app?
-
When bookmarking, is it not defaulting to your most recent team or space?
If you're able to share a short screen recording of what you’re seeing, that would really help us pinpoint the issue.
Appreciate your input.
Hi Eca,
thanks for replying

When bookmarking, is it not defaulting to your most recent team or space? sometimes is works and sometime it doesn’t bring me to my group https://miro.com/app/dashboard/
When I am in a board and I expand the side menu it gives me a list all the boards for that space, but I thought it used to show all the spaces instead, I may be wrong. Many times I want to find another board in another space while I still have the existing board open.

I then have to click on the home icon to get all my spaces and closes the board I am in. I believe it used just leave current board open then display the spaces.
Observations on the History of the Spaces Dashboard and Sidebar (Sept 2024–June 2025)
-
September 2024: Miro introduced the new Spaces dashboard and the Simplified UI for boards.
-
A new behavior was introduced: the Spaces sidebar could now be opened from within a board (except for Free Plan users).
-
At first, the sidebar would open automatically every time a board was opened – a clear "feature nudge" intended to bring visibility to the new feature.
-
Shortly after the Canvas '24 event, this automatic opening behavior was quietly removed.
-
Until mid-June 2025, the default behavior was:
-
Opening a board from the dashboard would close the sidebar.
-
If the sidebar was opened while on a board and then another board was selected from the sidebar, the sidebar would stay open.
-
-
Mid-June 2025 Change:
-
Selecting a Space from the dashboard now changes the entire sidebar to display the boards and Sections within that Space.
-
Selecting a board – whether from the sidebar or main content area – closes the sidebar.
-
However, if you manually open the sidebar while viewing a board and then select another board from within it, the sidebar remains open.
-
Note: This behavior is not consistent across all plans. For example, I haven’t observed the new sidebar behavior in my Enterprise subscription.
Personal Reflections
These are just my observations, and I acknowledge that I might have gotten some details wrong. But based on my experience:
-
I'm not a fan of the new behavior where the Spaces sidebar changes while on the dashboard.
-
I’d prefer a more familiar and stable structure, where:
-
Selecting a Space loads its boards in the main content panel, and
-
Spaces with Sections have a right-chevron to expand and reveal their contents – just like a classic tree view.
-
This experience leaves me torn.
On one hand, Miro's rapid and continuous innovation is exciting and brings powerful new capabilities to users.
On the other, the lack of consistency and predictability—especially when different users or plans experience different behaviors—can be frustrating. It often leaves us asking:
"Is this a bug? A feature? Or just a rollout that hasn’t reached me yet?"
