Hi,

I have been using the Miro Free Plan for about five months.

What happened today:

  1. I was unexpectedly logged out of my account.

  2. When I tried to access my boards, the app forced me to create a new account.

  3. The new account is empty. All my work from the last five months is completely missing.

Please help me restore access to my old account and recover my boards.

Thank you.

Hi @Yousif Shafee

Thanks for reaching out! In most cases like this, users accidentally sign up using a different login method (for example, Google vs. email and password, or a different email alias).

Could you please double-check:

  • If you might have used a different email address or login method previously?

  • Whether you have multiple Miro accounts listed under your browser’s login options?

Try logging out completely, then sign back in using the email you originally used to create your boards.

Also, I’d like to share with you that in order to provide the best possible experience for active Miro users, we are deleting inactive teams. If there's no activity on your Miro Team for over a year, Miro will notify you by email 3 months prior to deletion.

If you still can’t access your old boards after checking, I’ll have your case converted to a support ticket so the team can verify on the backend and help restore access to your original account.

@Yousif Shafee

  1. I was unexpectedly logged out of my account.

  2. When I tried to access my boards, the app forced me to create a new account.

This is the expected behaviour when your Miro account profile is removed from all teams.

What has likely happened is that a Team Admin removed you from one/all team you were previously a member of.

This is a common scenario with Miro Free Plans, e.g.,

  1. someone signs up for a Free Miro account and invites others to collaborate on boards with them — doing so automatically adds the invitees to the Free Plan team as full members.
  2. Next, these new members start creating their own boards, therefore pushing the team owner over their tree editable board limit, so the team owner, i.e., Team Admin starts removing these unwanted team members from the team and…
  3. Poof — people lose their work.

Miro will very likely not be able to help you as, if your scenario aligns with the above, the Team Admin was within their rights to remove users from their Free Plan team.

I go through this in even more detail here:

Best of luck!
