Hi! We have a license for the iObeya platform and we want to convert our project management boards including schedules to MIRO. Is there a way to do that easier than literally rebuilding everything in MIRO

@EGrime - I have never used iObeya, but depending on its export capabilities, e.g., to Visio (.vsdx), there are few formats that can be imported into Miro - more on this here:

Here is what I can find about files: 10. Import & export functionalities — User Guide 4.29.1 documentation (iobeya.com)

Tasks can be imported and exported through an XLSX file.

To download the template, click here.

The following structure must be respected:

  • the Excel sheet name must be DCM TASKS
  • the structure must be the same as the one in the template.

A category is defined by the combination of:

  • Name
  • Site
  • Department
  • Sub-department
  • Working-Area

It is still possible to change the color of a category afterward if the same category (the same combination of the previous properties) is defined several times with a different color, only the last row will be taken into account.

A task is defined by the combination of:

  • Name
  • Description

That means that, if several tasks with the same name but different durations are needed, their descriptions have to be different.

@EGrime - Re having other data exported from iObeya as XLSX, you can copy-paste spreadsheet cells onto a Miro board at which point you will be prompted if to create either Sticky Notes or a Table.

If your Tasks are work items/independent objects, e.g., Jira or Trello cars, you could re-create them as Miro sticky notes. Next, you would select all of the sticky notes and from the context menu you could use the switch type action to change them in Miro Cards, Text, or Shapes. Unfortunately, you would lose of the your meta data as the spreadsheet cell-to-sticky note has a 1:1 relationship, meaning, the cell text becomes the sticky note text.

Another option to be out of iObeya, but to maintain more task data is to import the task data into a Jira project as Jira issues and then use the Miro Jira Cards app to sync the Cards to a Miro board.
