why is miro connecting to sdk.split.io?

I wasn't able to find internal documentation about a connection to sdk.split.io, so to help us look into this further, could you kindly share a screenshot or any logs that show the outbound request? Details like the exact URL, timestamp, and how it was detected (e.g. through browser dev tools, firewall logs, etc.) would be super helpful.

Once we have that, we can investigate further or loop in the relevant team if needed.

Hi, I am running Miro with Chrome (latest version) or through the macOS Miro.app (though I tested this problem with Safari and it also failed).  I use 15.4.1 on an M3 Mac Book Pro.  I have littlesnitch (latest) installed and one of its rule sets was blocking three domains from Miro.
The block was coming from an "ad away" block list at https://raw.githubusercontent.com/AdAway/adaway.github.io/master/hosts.txt

Ad Away Description: Targets the most common and annoying trackers and ad servers, almost no false positives.

When I put an override to allow Miro.app to access sdk.split.io the miro board would load.

I have attached a few images.  One is how the Miro app looks when the block board is loaded.  Three show three different connections that are blocked.  Then I show the rules when I unblocked sdk.split.io.  This was tested starting at 5/8/2025 14:16 US/Eastern time.

I've gone ahead and asked our internal team about the connection to sdk.split.io, including what it's used for and whether it's expected behavior. I'll be sure to update this thread as soon as I hear back with more information.

I got a response from the team:

Miro does use sdk.split.io as part of our platform which helps us ensure stable and personalized experiences across the app. If this domain is blocked (like by AdAway or other network tools), certain parts of Miro may not work as expected, including board loading or feature availability.

 

To avoid issues, we recommend allowlisting sdk.split.io.
