If I’m doing a business process diagram and want to suggest that a user might, for example, browse to http://MyExample.com (← like that) the interface automatically converts it to a hyperlink so if my poor audience members click on it accidentally, they’re locked up for 90 seconds waiting for their browser to time out.

Then there’s no clear way to remove the hyperlink or otherwise prevent the behavior.

@JohnKNC -

I think in most cases when someone provides a URL, they are expecting participants to be able to launch the associated web site so this is not an unreasonable default behavior for Miro. I tried to put quotes (single & double) around a web link to see if it would alter the behavior but no luck. As such, you may want to add a wish list item to make that behavior configurable for a given text box following the guidelines here: Wish List: Everything You Need to Know 🌠 | Miro

“Most cases” ≠ “All Cases,” not even remotely, and to suit one while disqualifying the other reflects a failure in design thinking. Miro’s going to do what they want. I just wish they didn’t want to make it impossible to not punish my audience.

Hi JohnKNC,

until Miro decides to add a breakHyperlink button to the editor, what you can do is surround every slash and dot – and semicolon for good measure – with zero width spaces.

  • without extra zero width spaces: http://MyExample.com
  • with zero-width spaces: http://MyExample.com

For the reference, here’s where I added invisible spaces

<U+200B>http<U+200B>:<U+200B>/<U+200B>/<U+200B>MyExample<U+200B>.<U+200B>com<U+200B>

Hope you can patch it like this for the time being.

Best,

Darki

Hello Darki,

But this doesn’t work. I’ve copied your text and entered to a text field in Miro. It shows exactly the whole contents that you’ve provided here. These elements <U+200B> are visible actually.

I’m experiencing the same pain, can’t get rid of unnecessary links.
