The unexpected change of the Miro Free Plan

The help center for Miro's free plan advises me to delete one of my three most recent boards to create a new board. This is absurd. It is a major change to the board usage policy. The introduction of this change was kept quiet by Miro. This is highly unfair behavior! As a user, I was completely caught off guard at the beginning of the school year. On top of that, I am being told that there is no significant change! Please provide an explanation.

I have the same problem with creating a new board. The help center for Miro's free plan advises me to delete one of my most recent boards. This is absurd. Hi @Maria Lubinska, thanks for following up. I understand that you’ve already gone through the Help Center information, so I’ll clarify the limitation here.

The 3 active-board limit is part of the Free plan. Once a Free team has 3 active boards, creating another board requires either removing one of the existing active boards or upgrading the team. If the team has more than 3 boards, the boards beyond the 3 most recent remain available in view-only mode. This limit applies at the team level, rather than to the individual user's profile, which is why you may encounter the limit even if you personally haven't created 3 boards.

If you plan to make the most of the 3 available active boards, it may help to be mindful of the boards you create. For boards that are only needed temporarily, you can export the content once you're finished and then delete the board to free up a slot for a new one.

If you believe this limitation was applied to your team contrary to the Free plan terms, or that Miro has recently changed the policy in a way that differs from the information previously provided to you, please share any relevant documentation here. I can then escalate your concern to our Support team for further review.

Hope this helps!

Previously I’ve seen this method work (just creating a new one and letting the old one become view only) but as of today I have not been able to do that. Instead of creating the new board and setting the old one to view only now it gives me a “you’ve reached your 3-board limit” message and does not create a new board. Is this intentional?

@Dashiell Finer-Regn While Miro hasn't made an official announcement on their website or social media channels, the old vs. new help center article wording appears to confirm the new restrictions.

The old wording:

And the new wording:
