Hello!

I have a question about the Tables (Beta) feature that's recently been introduced to MIRO: https://help.miro.com/hc/en-us/articles/22760922335506-Tables-BETA#:~:text=Create%20a%20field&text=Click%20the%20%2B%20icon%20at%20the,fields%20and%20Custom%20field%20types.

I'm a big fan of this more "traditional" table setup and the robust ways to group and organize the table. After spending some time using it, I am wondering if certain features are currently possible or might be available in the near future:

  1. I can't seem to re-organize columns, I'd expect I could click & drag the column names at the top to reorganize them
  2. Hiding a column and unhiding it causes the column to appear at the far right end of the table, which further exacerbates issue 1 with not being able to click-drag to reorganize columns
  3. I can't seem to figure out how to embed an image into a cell or field. For example, I have a table for art production tasks that outlines assignees, status, a text description, and final image. However, I can't insert the final image in any cell, I just have to "float" the image in an empty cell I created. This creates issues when I want to organize or filter my rows, as the images will obviously not organize with the table since they are not embedded in a cell

Hi @Isaiah Sherman,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with the Tables (Beta) feature in Miro and providing such detailed feedback!

I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts. Feedback like yours helps improve features and prioritize updates. If you have more suggestions or come across other issues while exploring the Tables feature, feel free to share them here or submit them directly through Miro support form.

I would love to know how to simply add text within a cell

Hello!

I am using the Tables (Beta) feature, and I love it, but I can’t find a way export this table into an excel sheet or even any other format. Can you please advise how I might be able to export this?

Thanks
Sagar

Hello,

I am thrilled about the new Tables (beta) feature! It’s been fantastic so far, but I have a few suggestions for further improvements:

Recommendations:

  1. Wrap Text: This feature is available in Miro Grids, but I can’t seem to find it in Tables (beta).
  2. Convert Grid to Table: It would be helpful to convert existing Grids to Tables to utilize the additional features in Tables.  Right-Click Grid > Convert to Tables
  3. Formatting: Please include the formatting bar in Tables (beta).   i.e. Change font sizes, apply bold, bullets, etc.
  4. Selection > Copy/Paste: While we can highlight and copy content to paste into a Grid, this functionality isn’t available in Tables (beta).

Dear miro Team

The new Table feature is amazing. 💪
I’m using it for an implementation roadmap right now and struggling on some cases along my journey:

  • Management of views: I like to delete unused synched views. It seems not to be possible  visual on the board but not in the synched list. And the board is slowing down with each synched copy I’m doing. Is there a way to delete an unused synched table I didn’t see?
  • I like to add text and also links to the table like many others
  • Creating a synched card function is something really helpful.Bringing Cards and Synched Cards closer together would be nice
    • I could open the card side view of the synched card only with adding a standard card to the board. The Untitled table is from whereever...so not useful.

    • Also here it would be helpful mark the card specific fields.
    • It would be perfect to add a link (e.g. to github issues).
  • Timeline view: I was going crazy when I noticed the switch to timeline view. My journey here would be: Prepare roadmap on scope, estimations and also order in table view. Copy synched table and switch to timeline view. In a perfect world estimations (could also be a new duration field) would change the length of the timeline element and I only can move it left or right.
  • It would be very nice to do a calculation factor from one field to another. Not big formulas, but in my specific case I would add a factor from estimations to durations

For sure I’ll capture more inputs using it for other purposes. But for a project roadmap especially this is a gamechanger to me… I have everything on the miro Board already and just drop the planning layer on top. 🙌

Hi @Sagar Khakhaar,

Thanks for reaching out!

If you want to export the Table only, not the whole board, you’d need to put the table inside a Frame first then export the Frame together with the Table.

 Hope this helps!

Hi @Kyle Garnett,

Thank you for sharing your suggestions and feedback about the new Tables (beta) feature! It's great to hear you're enjoying it so far and have ideas for making it even better. Your recommendations are insightful, and I’ll make sure they’re passed along to the team!

If you have any additional thoughts or examples of how you’re using Tables, feel free to share. Feedback like this is invaluable during beta testing.

Hi @Anna-Lena Müller,

Thank you for sharing such detailed feedback about the new Table feature! It's great to hear that you’re finding it useful for your implementation roadmap. I’ve passed your suggestions along to the dedicated team for review, and they will definitely look into the issues you’ve raised.

Keep exploring, and feel free to share more feedback as you continue using the feature. 🤗

I agree with Isaiah and Kyle’s comments above.  I would like to add:

  1. I don’t think it’s a good use of space to have an entire blank column on the far left of the table just for the row controls (snip below).  It actually took me quite a while to work out why I couldn’t delete that column or type anything in there.  Could the row controls be placed outside the main body of the table?
  1. Semi-related to Kyle’s ‘wrap text’ suggestion, I would like to be able to adjust the row height: both for individual rows and for all rows at the same time.

Hi @Anna-Lena Müller,

The team would love to understand more about your use case here as they are looking tinto formulas now:

  • please can you give examples of your use cases and what you want to achieve with formulas?
  • is it row level formulas or column total formulas or both?

@Alex_Boyce,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and suggestions! I'll make sure to pass this feedback along to the team for consideration.
