Starter plan subscription issue: Billing for two members instead of one

Good day, Miro Team and Miro Community!

I need your support regarding my Starter Plan subscription. I would like to make a payment, but the billing system is charging me for two members instead of one, and it does not give me an option to select just one member.

In fact, I am the only person on my team and the only user of the account. However, the minimum number of members available for billing appears to be two, not one as before.

Could this be a system glitch or is this a recent change to Miro's billing policy?

I would like to continue using Miro as a single user, as I did before. Could you please advise me on how to resolve this issue and set up my subscription and payment for one member instead of two?

Thank you very much for your support. I look forward to your assistance.

Hi @Galym Ka ,

Thanks for reaching out! The Starter Plan currently has a minimum requirement of 2 licenses, even if you’re the only person using the team. (Miro Help Center)

Since you’re seeing a different billing setup from what you previously had, I’ve converted your case to a Support ticket so the Billing team can review your specific subscription and advise you further.

Please bear with the team, as they’re currently handling a high volume of tickets, so their response may take a little longer than usual. Thanks for your patience and understanding!

Hello @Eca,

I have basically the same questions as @Galym Ka

Could you please advise me too? Thank you!

Thank you for your kind reply, @Eca .

Also, @nelli.nikolai, thank you for your interest in this topic.

I got a reply from Miro and it is confirmed that they will “overcharge”. That is what I can say.

I’m disappointed that Miro requires me to pay for a one-user plan at the price of two users. It feels as the customers are being asked to help subsidize the cost of Bending Spoons’ acquisition of Miro through higher subscription prices. I didn’t agree to this and I don’t think customers should have to pay for an unused seat unless they become Miro shareholders.

I think the math is working well. Based on Miro’s math logic, 2 + 2 = 5 or 5 + 5 = 11.

It does not work that way. I checked new solutions like Mural and Whimsical. They charge fairly: one price, one seat. They both charge around $12 USD for almost identical features, with good AI capabilities as well.

I am now stuck with too many projects in Miro. If Miro had informed customers in advance that they planned to “overcharge” and require us to pay extra, I would have immediately started moving to another solution. Even Figma charges fairly for its solutions, bundling everything under $20 USD, including a full seat in FigJam.

I hope Miro will reconsider and continue offering a single-user plan. Customers should be able to decide whether they want to support the Bending Spoons acquisition or they shouldn’t be required to pay for a seat they neither need nor use.

Please, @Eca, would you to help send my feedback along to the relevant team? I hope Miro will consider restoring a single-user option.

All I want is to understand the core reason, why they are overcharging and asking me to pay extra for something I don’t use. Their current pricing is higher and unfair to their existing customers and their fees are now much higher than the market rate, like saying 2 + 2 = 5.

I’ve spent many years building my projects in Miro and be loyal to Miro and I’m now being asked to pay double for a service that only I use and intend to continue using. I should only have to pay for an additional seat when I actually need one.

Hi @Galym Ka

Thanks for sharing your detailed feedback. I understand your concern about the minimum number of licenses for the Starter Plan, especially as a single-user customer.

For feedback about bringing back a single-user option, I’d recommend sharing it on the Miro Wishlist, where you can also add your use case and vote on related requests. This helps the relevant team track and consider customer feedback.

For your specific subscription and billing questions, Support is still the best place to review your account and provide any available options.

Thanks again for taking the time to share your feedback with us!
