Yesterday, there were several text boxes with content on the board, but today they are completely gone.

I'm absolutely sure I didn’t delete them manually, and I didn’t make any major changes that would explain their disappearance. Interestingly, only the text boxes with a specific style are missing—others with a different style are still there. The missing boxes were scattered throughout the board, which makes it impossible that I accidentally deleted them all at once.

I also tried restoring a previous version of the board, but even in earlier versions the text boxes are gone now.

Can you help me understand what might have happened, and whether there’s any way to recover the missing content?

Hi @eMDee, thank you for the detailed explanation — that sounds frustrating.

If specific styled text boxes disappeared without being deleted manually, and they remain missing even in previous versions of the board, here are a few possibilities to consider:

  1. Style-based Bulk Deletion or Editing: If the text boxes shared a unique style (e.g., font, color, shape), it's possible they were unintentionally selected and deleted or modified via a bulk action, plugin, or script.

  2. Board Corruption or Sync Issue: Occasionally, if a board doesn’t sync correctly (especially during collaborative editing), elements may not save as expected.

  3. App or Integration Interference: If you used Miro Assist or another app/plugin recently, it might have removed or replaced certain objects.

What You Can Try:

  • Use the Activity Log: If you’re on a paid plan, you can check the board history/activity log to see if any deletions were registered.

  • Use the Undo Button (Ctrl+Z / Cmd+Z): Sometimes recent deletions can be undone, even if unintentional.

  • Double-check hidden or grouped elements: It's worth zooming out and checking for:

    • Hidden frames or locked layers.

    • Elements sent behind others or grouped inside collapsed containers.

  • Browser/app cache: Try opening the board on a different browser or device to rule out local rendering issues.

Since the content is missing in earlier versions too, it’s worth submitting a support request so the Miro team can investigate backend logs: https://help.miro.com/hc/en-us/articles/360020185799-Contacting-Miro-Support. If you still have any part of the board exported or screenshotted from before, that might help Miro Support locate and verify what was lost.

Let us know if you notice any pattern (e.g. a specific template or app in use) — happy to help investigate further!
